SEO Specialist

Full Time / Remote / St Louis, MO

Position Overview

As an SEO Specialist at Vinnie Mac Restoration Marketing, you will be responsible for optimizing our water damage, fire, and mold restoration clients' websites for search engines and driving qualified traffic that converts into emergency service leads. You'll work closely with our team to develop and implement effective SEO strategies that align with our restoration clients' business objectives, increase local market visibility, and improve user experience. Your responsibilities will include developing and executing search campaigns, providing SEO thought leadership for website development projects, and staying up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in SEO to ensure our clients dominate their local markets.


As a specialist in both Technical and Local SEO, you are expected to be a subject matter expert who guides all SEO activities related to both content and technical elements of client websites. You'll own and oversee tasks within your expertise while working closely with the team to help restoration contractors rank #1 in their service areas.


Job Responsibilities

Strategic SEO Management:

  • Constantly identify long-term SEO goals for all restoration clients and create plans to achieve these goals effectively
  • Develop thorough SEO strategies that focus on the client's objectives and local market opportunities
  • Proactively provide strategic counsel and recommendations to client stakeholders
  • Present results, discoveries, and optimizations to clients in a clear and easy-to-understand manner, explaining changes in performance and optimization plans based on results or client requests
  • Accurately create, implement, and manage client performance, demonstrating knowledge of the primary KPIs related to SEO and the impact of SEO on bottom-line business metrics
  • Update clients and strategies as needed based on external impacts (Google Core algorithm updates, changes in client goals, competitive landscape shifts, etc.)


Technical SEO & Website Optimization:

  • Ensure technical and on-page SEO best practices are properly implemented across all client websites
  • Perform thorough SEO audits and suggest recommendations to improve website speed, indexing, mobile friendliness, crawlability, and website architecture
  • Work with the web development team to ensure technical SEO best practices are properly implemented on all client websites
  • Optimize website internal linking structure
  • Set up uptime monitoring for websites
  • Set up and monitor Google Search Console, Bing Webmaster Tools, and Google Analytics
  • Set up and monitor site audit tools for clients
  • Optimize media assets in accordance with SEO best practices
  • Work closely with the team to ensure that all on-page elements of client websites are on-point, including schema markup
  • Recommend changes to website architecture, content, linking, and other factors to improve SEO positions for target keywords


Local SEO & Link Building:

  • Develop and implement link-building strategies to build a network of off-site links that improve the relevance and authority of client websites
  • Optimize websites for local search to help restoration contractors dominate their service areas
  • Manage Google Business Profile optimization strategies
  • Build local citations and directory listings for restoration contractors


Analysis & Optimization:

  • Continually assess the effectiveness of performance by conducting keyword research, website performance analyses, content gap analyses, competitor analyses, and comprehensive content and technical SEO audits
  • Perform ongoing keyword discovery, expansion, and optimization
  • Collect and analyze data and results, identify trends and insights to achieve maximum ROI for clients
  • Use Google Analytics and Search Console to track website performance, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions
  • Monitor monthly performance metrics to understand SEO strategy performance and make recommendations for improvement
  • Make decisions for campaign optimizations based on data interpretation and communicate any changes required in services being provided on behalf of client performance
  • Continuously monitor the latest trends, search algorithm updates, and changes in the SEO world to ensure we are always ahead of the curve in our knowledge and capabilities


Collaboration & Documentation:

  • Collaborate with the SEO manager to drive SEO strategy in terms of on-page and technical facets
  • Effectively communicate with other members of the team to align goals
  • Communicate promptly on tasks, especially for time-sensitive tasks
  • Maintain quality assurance and quality control for all website changes performed
  • Document new processes and methods as they are defined


Key Requirements

Technical Skills:

  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience in organic SEO
  • Strong understanding of technical SEO aspects like site architecture, URL structure, crawling, indexing, canonicalization, and page speed optimization
  • On-page SEO knowledge: skilled in optimizing meta tags, header tags, content, internal linking, keyword research, and content optimization
  • Experience in building and managing link-building campaigns
  • Local SEO: proven experience in optimizing websites for local search and helping businesses dominate their service areas
  • Experience using Google Analytics and Search Console to track website performance, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions
  • Understanding of content marketing and its role in SEO
  • Experience in optimizing websites for mobile devices and understanding mobile-first indexing


Performance & Adaptability:

  • Proven track record of delivering results in terms of increased rankings, traffic, and conversions
  • Experience adapting to algorithm updates and changes in industry best practices
  • Ability to communicate ideas effectively to clients and team members and work collaboratively with other departments like content, web development, and social media


Bonus Skills:

  • Experience with home services, contractors, or emergency services industries (water damage, mold removal, plumbing, HVAC, roofing, construction)
  • Strong public speaking skills and friendliness for client presentations
